FBiH Government asks Council of Ministers to ban export of wood assortments until the end of the year

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The FBiH Government, at the proposal of the Federal Ministry of Trade, accepted the initiative to extend the validity of the Decision on the temporary ban on the export of certain wood assortments, firewood and wood products from Bosnia and Herzegovina until 31.12.2022.

The Government will send an initiative to the BiH Council of Ministers to task the BiH Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations to, as soon as possible, but no later than fifteen days from its adoption, prepare and submit to the BiH Council of Ministers for consideration and decision-making an appropriate decision that would extend the validity of the Decision on the temporary ban on the export of certain wood assortments, firewood and wood products from BiH until 31.12.2022, which also included a ban on the export of wood briquettes.

The initiative also stated that the FBiH Government believes it is necessary to extend the validity of this decision, as the heating season begins in October and a drastic increase in demand for these products can be expected.

The extension of the Decision's validity is aimed at protecting the interests of citizens, natural and legal persons, as well as public institutions in the fields of education, healthcare, and social protection who use this type of fuel.

Bearing this in mind, the upcoming heating season would ensure a regular supply of firewood and pellets by extending the Decision's validity until 31.12.2022, as well as economically sustainable operations for producers, with social sensitivity and social responsibility appropriate to the economic reality in BiH.
