FBiH Government and unions sign agreement on salary increase for police officers, civil servants, and judicial authorities

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - At the headquarters of the FBiH Government in Sarajevo today, agreements were signed with representatives of the Union of Employees of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees in State Administration Bodies, Judicial Authorities, and Public Institutions in FBiH, for salary calculations, which foresee a total increase of 11.11 percent in 2023.

The FBiH Government previously gave its consent to these agreements at a recent session.

The established base salary is 385 KM, which will be applied to police officers in accordance with the Law on Salaries and Benefits of Police Officers of FBiH. The same base salary with a point of 1.00 will be applied to civil servants and employees in state administration bodies, judicial authorities, and public institutions in FBiH.

The agreements were signed on behalf of the FBiH Government by Federal Prime Minister Fadil Novalić, and on behalf of the two unions, by Mihret Rotić, President of the Management Board of the Union of Employees of the FMUP, and Samir Kurtović, President of the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees in State Administration Bodies, Judicial Authorities, and Public Institutions in the Federation of BiH.

- This increase was made possible by the growth in budget revenues achieved by this Government. Compared to the current salary level, this represents an increase of 11.11 percent, and together with two increases we had in the last four years, the growth in income is more than 22 percent compared to the level from December 2018. We will take this new base salary into account when preparing the budget for next year, secure funds, and expect the Parliament of the Federation to adopt such a budget. This increase is proof of the current Government's commitment to improving working conditions. Personally, I can say that, in whatever position I find myself in the future, I will continue to advocate for the improvement of the position of workers - stated Novalić.

Rotić, on behalf of the police officers of the Federal Police Administration, and employees and civil servants of the FMUP, thanked the Government of the Federation for the cooperation they have had in recent years.

- This is another step in the right direction towards improving the status of all employees in the Federal Police Administration and the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs - said Rotić.

Kurtović also expressed gratitude to the FBiH Government, emphasizing the importance of today's signing.

- The negotiation team of the FBiH Government with representatives of the relevant ministries and the Union's negotiation team did a very good job through negotiations, and I think such cooperation will continue in the future. It was at an enviable level. We had understanding from the Prime Minister's Office and especially the relevant Ministry of Finance, which, together with the Union, carried out all activities related to aligning the base salary with the growth of the consumer price index - said Kurtović.

Today's signing of the agreements was also attended by members of the Federal Government, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Jelka Milićević, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social Policy Vesko Drljača, Minister of Justice Mato Jozić, and Minister of Internal Affairs Aljoša Čampara. Also present were Ensad Korman, Deputy Director of the Federal Police Administration, and representatives of the Unions and trade union organizations of police officers, judicial police, and correctional facilities.
