FBiH Government to decide on electricity price cap of up to 20 percent for businesses

(Patria) - After the Law on Amendments to the Law on Electric Energy in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was published on January 5, it entered into force on Thursday in the Official Gazette of FBiH.

This law was harmonized in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament on December 30, and before that in the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament.

By publishing it in the Official Gazette, the Federal Government can pass a decision limiting the increase in electricity prices for businesses to a maximum of 20 percent in the Federation. We remind you that for several months, business entities have been receiving offers from EP BiH for 2022 with prices increased by over 300 percent, which hinders the work of companies. The Employers' Association is asking for business entities that have already signed contracts with drastically higher electricity prices to be allowed to amend their contracts and for the Government's decision on limiting electricity prices to apply to them as well.

The decision is being prepared by the Federal Ministry of Energy and Mining, headed by Nermin Džindić.

Although EP BiH sent a proposal to the FBiH Government on November 4 with a price cap based on the consumption of business entities with three different increases, the Government and Džindić never responded to that letter, even though they knew that the electricity market would be disrupted.
