Czech Government Donates One Million Euros to BiH Border Police

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Government of the Czech Republic will help strengthen the capacities of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina with one million euros, it was emphasized at today's meeting of the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Mektić, and the Czech Ambassador, Jakub Skalník.

Minister Mektić pointed out that the pressure of illegal migrants has increased in recent months and that this donation will be of exceptional importance for the procurement of equipment for more effective border surveillance and control. In addition to illegal migrants, Minister Mektić pointed out that smuggling and human trafficking pose a significant problem, and that a special focus of police agencies in the coming period will be on combating these criminal offenses as well.  

- It is evident that there is no common solution at the European Union level and that this will be a long-term process. Therefore, the only way to keep migration under control is to strengthen border surveillance and prevent illegal entries - Mektić said.
