Units from EUFOR, Border Police of BiH, SIPA, Sarajevo International Airport, Sarajevo Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service, Emergency Medical Services participated in the drill.
"Quick Response 2017" is a drill for peacekeeping operations, led by EUFOR. The drill is being held from October 11 to 15 in Sarajevo, Pazarić, and Kalinovik.
This is the first time that BiH law enforcement agencies, the Armed Forces of BiH, and EUFOR are training together within a realistic scenario, with the aim of testing their crisis response plans.
The drill depicted the infiltration of a group of terrorists into the airport premises with the intention of carrying out a terrorist act, followed by the wounding of several individuals and EUFOR members during an exchange of fire between the terrorists and BiH police forces.
After several calls for surrender, special police teams and EUFOR members stormed the building to neutralize the hostage crisis.
The drill scenario then involved an exchange of fire between terrorists and police forces, during which several people at the airport were wounded. Emergency Medical Services quickly arrived at the scene and provided first aid to the wounded.
In the armed operation within this morning's drill, one terrorist was apprehended, while the others were neutralized.
