Weddings and parties during the coronavirus pandemic: Guest records, no dancing or other social contact

The Federal Public Health Institute of FBiH has issued recommendations for celebrations during the coronavirus pandemic. The recommendations apply to both the venue where parties are held and the guests.

Limit the number of guests to the smallest possible number, in accordance with the currently valid orders of the competent crisis headquarters – up to 100 people indoors. It is recommended that only the celebrants and essential guests (e.g., graduates) and necessary staff be present, with as few guests as possible (e.g., family members). The presence of people from abroad, as well as people over 65 years of age, is not recommended.

Guests who have signs of respiratory illness (elevated body temperature, cough, difficulty breathing) should not attend the event and should contact their doctor.

The Institute recommends keeping a record of present guests and attendees, as well as recording seating arrangements.

"This will be useful for healthcare workers in case of COVID-19 cases after the event, who were present at the celebration. This record should contain basic and contact information of the persons present at the celebration," it is stated.

It is recommended that all celebrations be organized outdoors whenever possible, ensuring minimal distance between people according to previous recommendations (1-2m).

If the celebration is held indoors, the number of guests must also comply with the orders of the authorities, while ensuring the recommended distance between people. In enclosed spaces, it is especially important to ensure good ventilation with outside air, as well as other conditions recommended for catering facilities.

It is recommended that guests sit at tables and that there are no activities during the celebration that involve close contact, except between members of the same household, such as dancing.

It is recommended to ensure a physical distance (at least 4 meters) between the singer and musicians and the rest of the guests, as well as to ensure distance between the musicians themselves.

Greetings that involve physical contact, such as shaking hands, hugging, and kissing, are not recommended.
