The "Avdo Smailović Days" music festival is underway in Visoko and will last until June 5, reports the BH news agency Patria.
More than 70 participants from several countries around the world are taking part in the festival, held at the newly built Multimedia Center.
Smailović was a renowned BH composer. He was born in Visoko on August 14, 1917, and died on February 21, 1984. He is buried in Sarajevo at the Bare cemetery.
Over five days of the festival, the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the "Metamorphoses" concert performed by top young musicians from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Albania. A special feature of the concert is the performance by the famous BH opera singer Denis Isaković, who sang the aria of Hasanaga and Hasanaginica from the BH opera Hasanaginica with mezzo-soprano Larisa Buro.
Professor Esad Bajtal presented his book "Sevdalinka – Alchemy of the Soul" at the festival.
Following a music forum on the role of art music in relation to current trends, the festival will conclude with a gala concert "Who was Avdo Smailović," where the audience will enjoy a story about the life and work of Professor Smailović. Artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina and America will be joined by students from music schools in Visoko and Goražde, which proudly bear the name of Avdo Smailović.
