Higher Court in Belgrade: 35 years in prison for the crime in Štrpci

(Patria) - The War Crimes Department of the Higher Court in Belgrade has sentenced Gojko Lukić, Duško Vasiljević, Jovan Lipovac, and Dragana Đekić to multi-year prison sentences for the war crime in Štrpci.

Gojko Lukić, Duško Vasiljević, and Jovan Lipovac were sentenced to 10 years in prison each, and Dragana Đekić to a five-year prison sentence, the court announced.

They were accused of participating in the abduction and murder of 20 civilians of non-Serb nationality from a train on the Belgrade-Bar route on February 27, 1993.

The time spent in custody from December 5, 2014, to March 19, 2015, when their detention was lifted by a decision of the Higher Court, has been included in the prison sentences imposed on the accused.

Parties in the criminal proceedings may appeal the verdict to the Appellate Court in Belgrade.
