Years of crime in Reumal come due, workers suffer

The future of Reumal from Fojnica and its workers is uncertain. Poor management in previous years resulted in negative business operations, and workers are the first to pay the price. 137 of them have been declared redundant. The union nevertheless hopes that the crisis is temporary and that the remaining 200 workers will not suffer the same fate.

- This situation is so difficult and so painful for all of us. We, as the union organization, insisted that some other, alternative possibilities be found," emphasizes Safija Pamić, president of the Union Organization of the Reumal Health Resort.

From Reumal, information about unprofessional business practices has been forwarded to investigative and judicial authorities. Millions in loans were taken for apartments, for the new Hotel Natura, for equipment, and everything, together with the coronavirus, has come due.

According to the management, 67 workers will be taken care of through reorganization and various social programs, while 70 of them will end up at the employment bureau. They claim that the return to work will depend on the further course of the pandemic and the number of guests.

The difficult operations of Reumal have also been affected by lawsuits from workers due to violations of the collective agreement, which have also come due. The union nevertheless claims that the workers' lawsuits are just a drop in the ocean of Reumal's debts. The municipality, for which Reumal is the greatest tourist potential, is also on the move. The mayor of the municipality, Sabahudin Klisura, considers the layoffs necessary but hopes that a way out of the difficult situation will be found.
