(Patria) - Kennedy Kipkemoi Rono and Ruth Nundu Mbatha were the fastest competitors at the sixth Pharmamed Travnik night race, held on Saturday evening organized by the Center for Youth Education and the Municipality of Travnik. Due to technical issues, the race started about twenty minutes late, but the runners patiently waited to cross the start line.
This year's race had 718 finishers and last year's track record in the men's competition was broken. Kennedy Kipkemoi Rono ran 5 km in 14 minutes and 30 seconds, thus breaking last year's record when Đuro Borbelj ran 14:37.
In the women's competition, Ruth Nundu Mbatha (17:34) did not manage to break last year's track record held by Bojana Bjeljac with 16:31.
The second place in the men's category was taken by Albert Kipkorir Tonui (14:35), while the third place was taken by Uroš Gutić. In the women's category, the second place was taken by Alma Hrnjić (18:31), while the third place was taken by Jelena Gajić (19:16).
Citizens of Travnik cheered on the runners along the entire route, and at one point, members of the Brass Band welcomed the runners with music.
