Over 24 thousand traffic accidents in FBiH last year, 139 people killed

SARAJEVO, (Patria) During 2019, 24,093 traffic accidents occurred on the roads, which is 7.0 percent less compared to 2018, according to the annual report of the FBiH Statistics Institute on traffic accidents last year.

Out of the total number of traffic accidents, 19,242 accidents or 79.9% involved material damage.

The total number of fatalities in traffic accidents is lower by four or 2.8%, and the number of injured is higher by 115 people or 1.7% compared to 2018.

Last year, 139 people were killed and 6,871 were injured in traffic accidents.

By age, the largest number of fatalities belongs to the age group between 25-64 years, amounting to 72 people or 51.8% of the total number of fatalities.

The largest number of injured people also belongs to the same age group, i.e., 3,639 people or 53.0% of the total number of injured.

Looking at the months, the largest number, i.e., 2,462 traffic accidents, occurred in August, which is 10.2% of the total number of traffic accidents on the roads in 2019.

The largest number of fatalities, i.e., 19 people, was in August 2019.
