The City Hall received new illumination, its beauty coming even more to the fore

SARAJevo, (Patria) - A gathering "City Hall out of spite" was organized tonight on the Šeherćehaja bridge near the Inat House, and on the day marking the 27th anniversary of the burning of the City Hall, new illumination of the building was presented, which will further contribute to its beauty. During the event, beams of light of the burning City Hall were projected onto the building as a remembrance of the barbaric act during the siege of Sarajevo.

The hosts of tonight's ceremony were the Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka and the management of JP Sarajevo d.o.o., and numerous officials, public figures, and citizens attended the ceremonial lighting of the new illumination.

The Mayor of Sarajevo, Abdulah Skaka, said that he thought it was impossible to make the City Hall more beautiful than it already was.

"Now that we see how the light of this illumination, from the hands and idea of master Srđa Hrisafović, highlights the City Hall in a special way, it is clear that this investment was worth the effort. The City Hall is the treasure of the City of Sarajevo, a national monument, and now it is also becoming an institution that lives and justifies every investment. It was our special wish to present this project on the day of remembrance when the perpetrators wanted to destroy our history and our identity."

New illumination with energy efficiency measures

The illumination project is the work of the best BiH experts, Srđa Hrisafović and Jasmina Memić, and the City of Sarajevo is the investor through its public company. The illumination was done with maximum effect but in accordance with energy efficiency.

The construction of the City Hall began in 1891, and it was officially opened on April 20, 1896. Immediately after the war ended, the reconstruction of the destroyed and burned City Hall began.

The renovated City Hall was officially opened on May 9, 2014, on Victory Day over Fascism, and since then it has been an unmissable stop on tourist visits to Sarajevo.
