Council of Ministers: Continue export of fruits and vegetables to Russia

The BiH Council of Ministers supported the Proposal of the Protocol for ensuring phytosanitary requirements between the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation during mutual deliveries of products of high phytosanitary risk.

At the session, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations was authorized to submit this protocol to the BiH Presidency for further procedure, and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations was proposed as the BiH signatory.

The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations will, after the signing of the Protocol, initiate activities for its implementation, through coordination with the competent entity ministries.

The BiH Administration for Plant Protection, as the responsible institution for the implementation of the Protocol, will implement this protocol in accordance with BiH legislation and with the consent of the competent entity institutions in cases where it is stipulated by law.      

In this way, obstacles to the continuation of cooperation between BiH and the Russian Federation are removed in order to enable the further export of fruits, vegetables, and other plant-origin products from BiH to the Russian Federation.

The Protocol defines, among other things, that shipments of plant origin of high phytosanitary risk from BiH to the Russian Federation will contain a label on the packaging indicating the producer and exporter.

The text of the Protocol is identical to those that the Russian Federation has concluded with Serbia, Macedonia, and other countries.
