Council of Ministers of BiH: Budget on hold, no ban on EU meat imports

The Council of Ministers, with seven votes in favor and three against, did not reach a consensus on adopting a decision on special protection measures for the import of certain products originating from European Union member states, after two rounds of voting.

These are measures proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations for the import of fresh and chilled beef and pork from EU member states, which involve increasing the customs duty by 10% plus 2.5 KM per kilogram for beef and 10% plus 1.5 KM per kilogram for pork.

The adoption of the Draft Budget of BiH Institutions has been postponed to the next session. Until then, the Ministry of Finance needs to provide its opinion on the remarks. At the next session, ministers are also expected to decide on the Proposal of the Decision on the base amount for calculating salaries of employees in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2021, which was considered today, and whose implementation depends on the adoption of the budget of BiH institutions.

The Council of Ministers today adopted the Information from the Directorate for European Integration on the 5th meeting of the Special Group for Public Administration Reform between the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will be held via video link on February 25, 2021.

The session adopted the Discussion Paper and gave consent to the proposed composition of the BiH delegation for the 5th meeting of the Special Group for Public Administration Reform between the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina, after the Council of Ministers of BiH was informed of the draft agenda for this meeting.

The Chairman of the BiH delegation in the high-level political dialogue part will be the Minister of Justice, Josip Grubeša. (end)
