VIDEO Identity of the main organizer of the Paris terrorist attacks revealed

Belgian authorities have identified Abdelhamid Abaaoud as the main organizer of the Paris terrorist attacks, French radio RTL reports, as carried by the Patria news agency.

He is a 27-year-old from Belgium, of Moroccan origin, the leader of a jihadist cell in Belgium. Recall that earlier this year he was arrested in Greece along with three others for planning a terrorist attack on police officers and police stations across Belgium.

In several Belgian communities, raids were carried out at the time to uncover a cell that planned to kill police officers in public places and at stations, in attacks across the country, according to the federal prosecutor's office. Two suspected jihadists were killed in that raid in Verviers, eastern Belgium, where they were hiding.

Abaaoud was detained by Greek authorities, but was soon released without bail after his arrest, and has been wanted by Belgian police ever since. It is believed he returned to Syria and is directing operations in Belgium and the rest of Europe from there.

He is linked to one of the Paris attackers, Ibrahim Abdeslam, as well as to his brother Salah, who grew up in the same neighborhood as Abaaoud.
