VIDEO Tense situation in Brussels: Drunk neo-Nazis attacked citizens paying tribute to victims

Despite the cancellation of the "march against fear" to avoid further burdening the police, Belgians gathered on Easter Sunday at the Stock Exchange Square, which after the terrorist attacks on Tuesday became a place of tribute to the victims, reports the Patria News Agency.

"We have to show children that we are not afraid (...) even if we are scared," said 54-year-old Yves Susanne.

"I come here every evening out of a sense of solidarity. We need to show ourselves, we don't need to hide," said 50-year-old Belgian of Algerian origin Mohamed Ahmed Haddi.

The organizers of the citizens' march, who called for a gathering with the explanation that they want to "show those who try to bring us to our knees that we will remain upright," heeded the authorities' calls to postpone the event and are announcing it for a few weeks from now.

Although the tribute was proceeding peacefully, at one point a group of several hundred neo-Nazis appeared, who, with Nazi salutes, chanted slogans against refugees. Most of the neo-Nazis were dressed in black, and some were visibly intoxicated.

According to the Daily Mail, there was also shoving between the two groups, and the police intervened, writes Index.
