VIDEO Bloody wedding in Turkey: Suicide bomber detonates, large number of dead and injured

At a wedding in the city of Gaziantep, after an explosion in a wedding hall in southern Turkey, near the border with Syria, at least 8 people were killed and more than 60 were injured, Turkish media report, and information is spreading on social media, reports the Patria news agency. 

The attack occurred around 11 pm local time, a loud explosion echoed through the wedding hall in the Akdere neighborhood. The President of the Turkish Red Crescent, Kerem Kinik, emphasized that there are many wounded and called on citizens to urgently donate blood.

The governor of Gaziantep, Ali Yerlikaya, confirmed that it was a terrorist attack, but it is not yet known who is responsible. According to initial information, a suicide bomber detonated in the wedding hall. 

"There are numerous dead in a horrific terrorist attack," said Governor Ali Yerlikaya, as reported by the pro-government agency.

Numerous ambulances were sent to the scene of the attack. Gaziantep is a city located about 60 kilometers from the border with Syria. In May, two police officers were killed in that city in a suicide bomber attack.

Southern Turkey has experienced several severe attacks in the past year. Kurdish militants or ISIL were most often responsible for them.
