VIDEO Falsifying the truth: Kukanjac also claimed that lies were being told about Dobrovoljačka, six people died

Today, in Dobrovoljačka Street in Sarajevo, organized by the Committee of the Government of Republika Srpska for the Preservation of the Traditions of Liberation Wars, the "Suffering of JNA members in Sarajevo - Dobrovoljačka Street" will be commemorated. In the attack on the JNA column, as claimed by this committee, 42 members of the JNA were killed and 207 were captured.

However, after a three-year investigation, the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina determined that seven people were killed and 14 wounded in the attack. The Hague Tribunal defined the JNA column in Dobrovoljačka Street as a legitimate military target, reports the Patria news agency.

There were 14 suspects for Dobrovoljačka Street. The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, citing statements from 352 witnesses and 412 pieces of material evidence, including documents, video footage, and intercepted conversations, decided that there were no elements of a criminal offense for which the 14 individuals were suspected.

The War Crimes Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade conducted its own separate investigation, and based on its arrest warrants in 2010 and 2011, respectively, members of the wartime Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ejup Ganić, and General of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jovan Divjak, were arrested in London and Vienna as suspects for the crime in Dobrovoljačka, but were subsequently released.

Although attempts are persistently made from both Banja Luka and Belgrade to falsify the truth about May 2 and 3, 1992, there is relevant and solid evidence of the deaths of 7 soldiers in Dobrovoljačka Street, while the remaining 35 soldiers and officers of the JNA died at other locations in Sarajevo while trying to capture the city center and the building of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Such facts are, of course, hidden from the public.

Even General Milutin Kukanjac himself, then commander of the 2nd Military District, who led the column through Dobrovoljačka and negotiated beforehand with Alija Izetbegović, the first president of the Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who was arrested and then transported from Lukavica to Bistrik, said in one of his last interviews before his death that six people died.

"In that Dobrovoljačka Street, they attacked a medical vehicle and one soldier died, Zdravko Tomović from Han Pijesak. Three colonels: Miro Sokić, Dr. Budimir Radulović, and Boško Mihailović. One lieutenant colonel, Boško Jovanović, and one woman, a Muslim, Nurmela Šuko... So, six people out of 261 perished."

When asked, if that is the case, why are there still manipulations and lies, General Kukanjac offered a convincing answer:

"Probably those in Belgrade lost patience because we didn't suffer more casualties, so these lies about Dobrovoljačka were spread, which is one of the most shameful things one could hear," Kukanjac emphasized.

As every year, the Green Berets will pay tribute to the defenders of Sarajevo, while afterwards, a delegation from the Republika Srpska will commemorate the suffering of JNA members. The Ministry of Interior of the Sarajevo Canton stated that all measures have been taken to ensure this gathering passes without incidents.
