VIDEO Digital Exhibition 'Personal Items of Srebrenica Genocide Victims'

(Patria) - The Srebrenica Memorial Center today presented the digital exhibition "Personal Items of Srebrenica Genocide Victims" to the public, marking the conclusion of the first phase in a long-term project to establish a museum collection of personal items.

"With the digital exhibition, which was created in English and Bosnian, we decided to bring our work on searching for personal items closer to the public. First and foremost, I want to thank Azir Osmanović, Ahmo Mehmedović, and Redžep Uštić who realized this digital exhibition, as well as the entire team that worked on touring the terrain and the Death March route, and who communicated with the families. I hope we have justified the trust of the people, and that this is just the beginning," said the Director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center, Emir Suljagić.

The Srebrenica Memorial Center is the first institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina to launch virtual tours during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has conducted over 40 online educational sessions with universities and academic institutions worldwide in the last four months, and through online campaigns on social networks, its numerous projects have been viewed by over a million people.

"We have numerous partners in organizations and museums with whom we work. In these days of July, we can hardly find time to reflect, so many projects, exhibitions, research papers, and publications have been realized that we are presenting and talking about these days. Our curator Hasan Hasanović spoke at three conferences today alone. Tomorrow, we have a major conference on the fight against genocide denial. Tonight, with Šejla Kamerić and ICMP, we are announcing a new project, 'Forensic Archive'. This team of brilliant experts, joined by young people from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has come together, and despite the COVID-19 pandemic and despite all other so-called distractions, we want to show that the world continues to recognize the importance of the lessons from the Srebrenica genocide. This is important for the future of our country and society, important for dialogue, and important for lasting peace," concluded Director Suljagić.
