Viber threatens telecom operators in the Federation of BiH, number of calls and SMS messages declines

The free calling application Viber has threatened telecom operators in the Federation of BiH as well. According to data from the Federal Institute of Statistics, fixed-line telephone calls measured in minutes, in the period from October to December 2015, were 6.7 percent lower compared to the same period in 2014.

A slightly smaller decline was also recorded for mobile phone calls. In the period from October to December last year, a decline of 3.4 percent was recorded compared to the same period a year earlier. Citizens of the FBiH, according to data from the Federal Institute of Statistics, sent 9.1 percent fewer SMS messages in the last three months of last year than in the same period in 2015.

It is evident that more and more people are using free calling applications. The most popular is Viber. Its popularity has particularly increased after the emergence of the 3G network, NAP reports.
