Major fire near Fojnica: Houses, tekke endangered... locals prevented a catastrophe

Last night around 9:00 PM, a fire broke out in Vukeljići near Fojnica, which was localized 45 minutes past midnight through superhuman efforts.

The fire, aided by stormy winds, engulfed several acres of private forest, low vegetation, and grass, and several houses, high and low voltage power lines, hay, sheds with charcoal, and other property were endangered.

Through the timely intervention of the locals, the spread of the fire towards the turbets, tekke, and the rest of the village was prevented.

Road communication between Vukeljići and Živčići was suspended for several hours. Due to the distance and poor road communication, firefighters from Fojnica arrived an hour after the report, and the locals thank them for their efforts, as they descended into a ravine about a hundred meters deep with water hoses.

Members of the Fojnica Police Department and the Fojnica Forestry Administration went to the scene.

Reportedly, the fire was caused by the irresponsible Enes Hadžimejlić, who causes fires several times every year by burning his private property.

Locals demand that the competent authorities severely sanction him, so they do not have to fear every spring and autumn.
