Large number of Nahorevo farmers interested in berry production

In the premises of the Local Community "Pionirska dolina-Nahorevo" during November 2015, a lecture was held for all interested farmers from this area who wish to start berry production. The lecture was attended by representatives of the Humanitarian Organization "Caritas of Switzerland" Sarajevo, Dževad Lavić, and Mirzeta Hadžiavdić and Adela Velež from the company "Herbos Nature" LLC Sarajevo, it was announced from the Municipality Centar, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

- During this meeting, we explained to the farmers that through a microcredit organization, we provide financial resources for commodity loans and the start of berry cultivation, of which 20 percent of the funds are given in cash for land preparation for sowing, while for the rest of the loan, we procure raw materials such as fertilizers, planting material, irrigation systems... In the next period, an expert commission will visit all interested farmers, so this project could start in the spring of next year. Our expert supervision and technical support in this project lasts for two years. The condition for obtaining a loan is that the household owns at least half, and at most three dunams of land. All those interested in this project can get the necessary information from the Microcredit Foundation "LOK" - said agronomist Dževad Lavić.

Sonja Furtula-Tunović, secretary of the Local Community "Pionirska dolina-Nahorevo", expressed satisfaction with the initiated activities on this project.

- We are satisfied with the response of our farmers who want to start berry production, which will improve their financial situation. As stated at the meeting, farmers will have to repay the loans only with the first harvest, which will be bought by the company "Herbos Nature", and that will be in a year or two, depending on the type of berry planted. This type of lecture for farmers is also planned in the local communities "Soukbunar", "Betanija-Šip" and "Hrastovi-Mrkovići" - said Furtula-Tunović.

As is known to the public, the initiative to expand berry production to the area of four local communities in the Centar municipality was launched by Šaćir Hrustemović, secretary of the Association "Istočna Bosna", and it was accepted by the Mayor of Centar Municipality Dževad Bećirević and the Chairman of the Municipal Council Nedžad Ajnadžić.
