SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Croatia could be removed from the UK's list of safe travel corridors today, after the first imported cases of coronavirus linked to stays in our country were confirmed there, writes The Guardian.
The British government will likely remove Croatia from the list of safe countries due to the increase in coronavirus cases.
If this happens, everyone entering Great Britain from Croatia will have to self-isolate for 14 days. The decision could affect thousands of British tourists currently staying in Croatia.
British Transport Secretary Grant Shapps met with other ministers on Wednesday afternoon to discuss next steps, and an official announcement could be made as early as today, the British newspaper reports.
The Guardian was told that officials from the government's Joint Biosecurity Centre have identified certain cases of coronavirus that were imported into Britain from Croatia.
It is not known how many cases have been confirmed, or where, but it has been determined that the number of imported cases from Croatia is at a similar level to the number of confirmed cases imported from Spain, before that country was removed from the safe list within just a few hours, causing major problems for many tourists.
When France and several other countries were recently removed from the list, the government still allowed a 30-hour grace period for adjustments, so it is believed, the newspaper states, that the same will happen with Croatia.
