Great Britain and Russia discuss de-escalation of tensions

One of the highest-ranking British military commanders met with Russian military leaders on Thursday in Moscow to discuss de-escalation of tensions between the two countries, Interfax reports, citing Patria.

British General Gordon Messenger met with Russian General Alexander Zhuravlev to discuss the prevention of accidents and incidents involving the military forces of Russia and Great Britain, Reuters writes.

Tensions between London and Moscow have escalated after Russia annexed Crimea, and due to Russian interventions in Syria.

Britain particularly complains about, as it claims, frequent flights of Russian long-range bombers near British airspace, as well as the movement of Russian Navy warships near British waters.
