'The Big White House' Wins Best Film Award Again

(Patria) - MladiCe, a group of young cancer survivors operating within the "Heart for Children with Cancer" Association, are proving to be a successful team of young people through their many achievements. One of the most current is the documentary film "The Big White House," which they made together with their mentor Zoran Zoka Ćatić, and which won the main award – the Grand Prix at the Dubrovnik Film Festival 2018 in October last year.

The latest success is the entry into the official competition program of the 6th International Student Film Festival "New Wave" in Sofia, Bulgaria, which took place from April 17th to 20th. Out of 4000 submitted films at the festival, only 70 from 16 countries entered the official competition program and got the chance to compete for prestigious awards. The fact that the representatives of MladiCe, who traveled to Sofia for the festival, Harun Šabić, Muhamed Mahmić, and Fuad Halilović, did not return home empty-handed, proves that this is not the only and last success of these strong young people. Namely, the film "The Big White House" triumphed again in Sofia and won the first award in the documentary film category.

"We came to Sofia with the intention of presenting our film and showing people what children with cancer and young survivors need. The film is inspired by and named after the major project of the Association's Parents' House 'Heart for Children' and shows how much it means to our little ones and how much it would have meant to us if we had had it during our treatment. Therefore, we dedicate this award to the new Parents' House in Tuzla, the construction of which should begin this year. We invite all good people to join us in enabling our little ones from the Tuzla Canton to get their second home, their Parents' House in Tuzla," said Harun Šabić, one of the representatives of MladiCe who participated in the festival in Sofia.

The "New Wave" student film festival was created by wonderful people from the Department of Cinematography, Advertising, and Show Business of the New Bulgarian University, founded in 1994. Every year, a large number of films from all over the world are submitted to the festival, and only a few of them get the chance to appear in the official part of the competition program and have the privilege of being screened at the festival.
