(Patria) - A major operation by Split police in cooperation with USKOK began this morning around 6 AM with arrests and raids on the apartments of several individuals in the Split and Kaštela area, writes Slobodna Dalmacija.
According to unofficial information, this involves the dismantling of a criminal association of at least 19 members who, in the past few years, were involved in drug trafficking, primarily marijuana and cocaine.
Allegedly, it concerns large quantities of drugs measured in tons.
According to USKOK's suspicions, at the top of the organization were individuals who recently ended up in Split prison on suspicion of attempted murder of a young man.
One of the suspects was arrested based on a European arrest warrant issued by Germany.
Today's arrests are the result of a multi-month operation that also included the interception of telephone conversations of the criminal organization members conducted via encrypted applications.
