Fire rages: Critical situation near Omiš, fire extinguished in Dubrovnik

A large fire in Lokva Rogoznica near Omiš in Croatia is still not extinguished and so far more than 100 hectares of pine forest have burned, Croatian media report, according to the Patria News Agency.

Currently, 150 firefighters with 40 vehicles from more than 20 units from the wider Omiš, Split, and Trogir areas are on the ground. Firefighters are still defending houses, and two Canadairs arrived to help them early this morning, while they expect help from two more during the day.

Last night after midnight, a fire also broke out in the Dubrovnik area, in an open space in the Zvekovica region. Firefighters from JVP Konavle and DIP Dubrovnik responded. Low vegetation was burning, and the fire was successfully brought under control by morning.
