Early elections in Turkey possible in 2027, Erdogan to run for president again

(Patria) - Turkey could hold early presidential elections in November 2027, and current President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will run for a new term.

This was stated yesterday by the Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), Hüseyin Yayman, addressing at the AKP headquarters in Hatay.

- God willing, we will again propose our President as a candidate in the next presidential elections in November 2027, and the flag of the People's Alliance will once again fly high in Turkey - Yayman said.

He confirmed the stance of the coalition partner - the Nationalist Movement Party, that there is no need for another presidential candidate "as long as there is such a world leader".

- We pray, we work, and we serve our nation day and night. In the next elections, God willing, we will put our President Tayyip Erdogan as the head of state again, and together we will solve all of Turkey's problems - Yayman added.

Erdogan had previously stated that early elections are not on his party's agenda. The next regular presidential elections are scheduled for the spring of 2028.
