Extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers: Poor coordination among police agencies in BiH

An extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of BiH has concluded, where members discussed the situation that occurred last night in Rajlovac, where two soldiers were killed, after which the terrorist took his own life, reports a reporter for the Patria News Agency.  

Although journalists waited for the end of the session, all ministers except the Minister of Security, Dragan Mektić, left through another exit to avoid meeting with journalists.

Mektić stopped and told media representatives that it was agreed at today's session to adopt an action plan for the implementation of the strategy to combat terrorism and that poor coordination between police agencies was discussed again.

- I believe that with these new appointments in the agencies, we will get what we wanted, because unfortunately, some leaders previously identified with the agencies they worked for, and that should not have happened.

Because if one agency has information, it is obliged to share it with all others, Mektić said.

He reiterated that both repressive and preventive measures were discussed in the fight against the phenomenon called terrorism, which the whole world and BiH are facing.

When asked by Patria journalists if he was aware of the statements made by some professionals from the Faculty of Criminal Justice, who openly criticized the authorities today, saying that the heads of police agencies can no longer be appointed along political lines, Mektić said:

- That is too narrow a view. I would not agree with that entirely, although to be fair, there is some truth to it. This phenomenon occurs in society, and we cannot explain why young people join radical groups. The police are not responsible for that.

I believe that one of the reasons is the difficult economic situation, and then people look for a way out. However, you see in France, young people have everything, but still, more and more minors and women are joining radical groups, Mektić pointed out.
