Vance: United States considering delivery of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine

(Patria) - The United States is considering Ukraine's request to acquire long-range Tomahawk missiles for its efforts to repel Russian invaders, Vice President J.D. Vance stated on Sunday, Reuters reported.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked the United States to sell Tomahawks to European countries that would send them to Ukraine.

Vance said on "Fox News Sunday" that US President Donald Trump would make the "final decision" on whether to allow the deal.

"We are certainly considering a number of requests from Europeans," Vance said.

Tomahawk missiles have a range of 2,500 kilometers and would be a powerful asset in Ukraine's arsenal as it fights regular Russian missile and drone attacks. Russia would almost certainly view such an arms delivery as an escalation of the war in Ukraine. Trump has in the past rejected Ukraine's requests for the use of long-range missiles, but has become frustrated by Russian President Vladimir Putin's refusal to reach a peace agreement.

Vance also said that the Russian invasion of Ukraine has recently stalled, with little territorial gains.

"We have actively sought peace from the very beginning of the administration, but the Russians must wake up and accept reality. Many people are dying. They don't have much to show for it," he said.
