Vance: War in Ukraine likely won't end soon

(Patria) - The State Department announced last night that "the methodology of the American contribution to the talks between Ukraine and Russia is changing" and that they "will no longer be flying around the world for meetings," reports The Telegraph.

This decision came after the US signed a minerals agreement with Ukraine on more favorable terms than previously thought. US President Donald Trump has also reportedly signed the first round of arms deliveries to Kyiv.

The State Department stated in its announcement that Kyiv and Moscow must now present concrete proposals to end the war and that they should meet directly to resolve the conflict.

"We will continue to help, but we will no longer fly around the world as mediators at meetings," said spokesperson Tammy Bruce.

US Vice President JD Vance warned that the war in Ukraine is unlikely to end soon, saying it is now up to Kyiv and Moscow to reach a settlement.

Vance added that US President Trump brought both sides to the negotiating table, but that the US will no longer lead mediation efforts.

"It is now up to them to agree and stop this brutal, brutal conflict," Vance said.

This announcement potentially marks a shift in the American approach to the war, following warnings that they would withdraw from their mediating role if no progress was made.
