(Patria) - US Vice President JD Vance spoke about the war against Iran in a conversation with conservative podcaster Benny Johnson.
Vance said that, "although the US has achieved most of its military objectives, President Donald Trump plans to continue the war for some time to ensure that the Iranian government is seriously weakened."
- The President will continue with this for some time to ensure that after our departure, something like this does not happen again for a long, long time. We need to neutralize the Iranian government for a very, very long period, and that is the purpose - Vance said.
He admitted that fuel prices have risen as a consequence of the conflict, but also emphasized that they will soon decrease.
- This is a very, very temporary reaction to a conflict that will ultimately be short-lived. I think the president has been very clear on this issue.
We are not interested in staying in Iran for a year or two. We are doing the job, we will leave there soon, and fuel prices will return to normal - Vance concluded.
