DISTURBING AND HORRIFIC Israeli army forces captured Palestinians to kneel naked surrounded by soldiers

(Patria) - Photos and videos showing men forced by members of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to strip to their underwear and kneel on the street or on sand with blindfolds have spread on social media today. Some men were filmed in the cargo areas of military vehicles.

CNN investigated what is behind these horrific photos. The American media states that the exact circumstances and dates on which the photos were taken are still not fully clarified, but the identities of some Palestinians have been confirmed by colleagues or family members.

The International Committee of the Red Cross announced that it is concerned about the published photos and emphasized that prisoners must be treated humanely, in accordance with international humanitarian law.

Some of the men are known not to be connected to militant groups

At least some of the men are civilians who have not been found to be connected to militant groups, according to a conversation CNN had with one of their relatives and a statement from one of the employers of the arrested men from a media company.

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor published one of the photos on its website today, stating that "the Israeli army detained and severely abused dozens of Palestinian civilians".

"Euro-Med Monitor has received reports that Israeli forces have launched random and arbitrary arrest campaigns of displaced persons, including doctors, academics, journalists, and elderly men," the statement said.

The Israeli Defense Forces did not respond to CNN's request for comment on the images. CNN geolocated some of the images in the Beit Lahia area, north of Gaza City.
