University of Sarajevo Successfully Completes Re-accreditation Process

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton issued a Decision on the institutional accreditation of the higher education institution "University of Sarajevo" on September 10, 2019. Based on this decision, the Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a Decision on the registration of the "University of Sarajevo" in the State Register of Accredited Higher Education Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina on September 19, 2019.

The following activities preceded this:

On March 18, 2019, in accordance with the prescribed procedure, the University of Sarajevo submitted a request for institutional re-accreditation to the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, which the Ministry forwarded to the Agency. On May 15, 2019, the Agency appointed a Commission of Experts for Accreditation, consisting of five members, including two representatives from the academic community, one international expert, a representative from the economy and practice, and a student: Prof. Dr. Sead Pašić, President, Prof. Dr. Dejan Bokonjić, Prof. Dr. Dražan Kozak, Boris Ćurković, and Amer Mujičić.

From June 12 to 14, 2019, the Commission conducted an external evaluation of the University of Sarajevo and prepared a Report on External Evaluation, based on which the Agency sent a Recommendation on the accreditation of the University of Sarajevo to the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton on September 2, 2019. Based on this recommendation and the prescribed conditions, the Ministry issued a Decision on the institutional accreditation of the higher education institution "University of Sarajevo" on September 10, 2019, thus successfully completing the re-accreditation process of the University of Sarajevo.

The University of Sarajevo is a large and complex public institution in terms of organization, whose basic structure today consists of thirty organizational units: twenty-five faculties and academies and five institutes, full members of the University, internally organized within six councils of science/art groups in the fields of: social sciences, humanities, medical sciences, technical sciences, natural-mathematical sciences, and biotechnical sciences, as well as arts.

The University's commitment is to be an autonomous academic community of teachers, researchers, artists, and students, incorporated into the international university and academic community.

The University strives to continuously strengthen its role as a responsible institution within the social community in which it operates, and to ensure its role as a recognizable center of scientific and artistic work that brings together teams of domestic and international experts and artists around projects relevant in the domestic, regional, and broader social context and environment, it was announced from the University of Sarajevo.
