SUCCESS OF YOUNG BH. PHYSICISTS Returning from Iran with Two Bronze Medals

(Patria) - At the 54th International Physics Olympiad held in Isfahan, Iran, BiH had five competitors, and they are returning with two bronze medals and a commendation.

BiH was represented by Mihailo Bogdanić (Banja Luka Gymnasium, IV grade), Muhamed Numanović (Richmond Park Schools Tuzla, III grade), Miodrag Ostojić (Mihailo Pupin Technical School, IV grade), Filip Krištić (Second Gymnasium Sarajevo, III grade), Nedim Begović (United World College Mostar, III grade).

The students were accompanied by Bojan Kovačević, Kenan Saračević, and Benjamin Fetić.

Miodrag Ostojić and Muhamed Numanović won bronze medals, while Nedim Begović received a commendation.

A total of 46 countries and 193 students participated in the Olympiad. Each country was allowed to send a maximum of five students.

Medals at the International Physics Olympiad are awarded based on points scored. The top 8% receive a gold medal, the next 17% receive a silver medal, the next 25% receive a bronze medal, and the next 17% receive a commendation. Other students do not receive recognition.

The International Physics Olympiad is the oldest and most prestigious physics competition for high school students, where students compete in experimental and theoretical tasks. The experimental tasks test and the theoretical tasks test each last five hours and are conducted on the second and fourth days of the Olympiad. In addition to the competitive part of the Olympiad, a significant part is dedicated to visits to cultural and historical sites of the host country. This year, the hosts utilized every free moment to organize excursions and visits to the sights that could be seen in Isfahan.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has been participating in the International Physics Olympiad since 1996.
