USD: Sarajevo Canton Government Must Be Appointed Urgently, as Citizens Are Being Deceived!

The Union of Social Democrats is disappointed that the Sarajevo Canton still has a caretaker government and acting prime minister, and that the leadership of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly decided, outside the legally prescribed deadline, according to the party, reports the BH News Agency (NAP).

- Sarajevo cannot be brought into a position of a "provincial" environment due to political reasons or personal interests of politicians or representatives, but should be what it is, the driving force of BiH society and the leader of its integration. We demand that the Collegium of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly insist that the political party caucuses propose a mandate holder and stop this imitation of authority in Sarajevo – says the party.

The way the leadership of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly decided, as they point out, to appoint an acting prime minister is a deception of the citizens of Sarajevo and a manipulation of justified demands and protests, which otherwise led to the resignation of the Sarajevo Canton Government.

- Half a million citizens of the Sarajevo Canton should not and must not suffer due to the interests of certain political manipulators, who would leave such an irresponsible and undefined situation until the elections by imitating authority. The Union of Social Democrats does not want to participate in this politicking and, through its representative, will insist on the establishment of a fully capacitated Canton Government, as it will operate for at least three months after the elections, i.e., the entire year of 2014 and certainly a few months of 2015. Therefore, there is no justification for avoiding the appointment of a government due to the upcoming October elections – they emphasize.  

The Union of Social Democrats is ready to take political risks and responsibility for all processes in the Sarajevo Canton in accordance with our legitimacy, because for us, Sarajevo is above all individual and party interests.

- What is happening in the Government now, nobody knows, we don't know the extent of the Canton's debts, why and how certain appointments and dismissals are made in the institutions and agencies in the Sarajevo Canton, who the current Government politically represents and what its interests are. If this is the situation in the "strongest" region of BiH – Sarajevo, what is happening in other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina? – emphasize the USD, reports NAP.
