"We all have flaws, we don't have virtues. A lion's heart, a spine as straight as an arrow, clear and penetrating speech. I was lucky to get to know you up close, to fight some battles together. We didn't win them, they are still ongoing, some have just begun...", with these words Elmedin Konaković, president of People and Justice, said goodbye to Muamer Zukorlić after his death.
Konaković's words were not analyzed much at the time, but it is clear that one of the 'unfinished projects' was the takeover of the Islamic Community in BiH.
Therefore, today's open letter from NiP to the Islamic Community in BiH did not surprise the public here, except for the part that has not yet realized that Konaković is an ideological follower of the late Zukorlić.
He supported him very openly, and as the President of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, he donated 60,000 KM to BANU. This became the subject of public debate. It was budget money, the money of Sarajevo taxpayers, and he needed a good justification for it.
Because until then, BANU existed in a way outside the state, but the taxpayers' money became its official recognition.
The money for BANU from the budget of the Sarajevo Canton turned out to be a marketing move by the party. Namely, the executive secretary of BANU was a candidate of Konaković's People and Justice (NiP) party in the last General Elections. And then Mufti Zukorlić and Elmedin Konaković were openly photographed with the logo of the People and Justice party.
In 2019, a formal takeover of the Islamic Community would begin. The then Member of Parliament in the National Assembly of Serbia and former Mufti of Sandžak of the Islamic Community in Serbia, Muamer Zukorlić, wanted to head the Islamic Community of BiH. In the initial reactions to his candidacy, after the shock that the candidacy had arrived, analysts rightly asked, "Is the candidate for Reis Zukorlić a candidate for Serbs or Muslims?"
What kind of policies were involved and who followed Zukorlić should be sought in the fact that he was also in close contact with the Montenegrin URA, whose Dritan Abazović has now plunged Montenegro into darkness!
At a time when national policies in Belgrade and Zagreb are working to break up multi-ethnic Bosnia and Herzegovina in the post-war period, strengthening ethnic feelings among Bosnian Serbs and Bosnian Croats to the detriment of Bosnian identity, Zukorlić responded in kind, aggressively promoting Bosniak identity – primarily through his private Bosniak Academy of Sciences and Arts (BANU) – which Zukorlić saw as a dire need for Bosnian Muslims, consciously or unconsciously killing the spirit of civic Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is ultimately the goal of the other two nationalisms.
Konaković clearly follows such policies deeply. He also dreams of a civic BiH, but according to him, it is not time for that yet. Similar to how Dritan promotes some awkward civic concept, dragging Montenegro into Serbia's lap.
That is why the quote from the beginning of the text should be read correctly and the point of the story and what kind of project it is should be understood, and precisely today, at a time when Muamer's son, Usama Zukorlić, was elected Vice-President of the National Assembly of Serbia. He emphasizes that he is continuing the Mufti's path, and Konaković and NiP are clearly doing so in BiH, just like URA in Montenegro!
