DESPITE THE WAR, PALESTINIANS TRY TO MAINTAIN THE EID TRADITION BY BAKING CAKES

(Patria) - Families in the Gaza Strip are doing everything they can to preserve the tradition of celebrating Eid al-Adha, one of the two major Islamic holidays, despite Israeli attacks.

Women from the Sharrab family from Khan Younis are preparing Eid cakes amidst the rubble of their home destroyed in Israeli attacks.

In this way, they are trying to forget the negative consequences of the war and revive Palestinian tradition during the holiday.

They bake the cakes in a makeshift oven and then share them with other Palestinians so that they can feel the arrival of Eid, even if only a little.

Eid al-Adha begins on Sunday and is celebrated for four days.

Israel continues its brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip despite a United Nations Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire.

At least 37,266 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip since October 7 last year, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.

Israel has been accused of genocide before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which in its latest ruling ordered Tel Aviv to immediately halt operations in Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians have sought refuge from the war.
