Jovan Nikolić, also known as Jole, who was arrested in 2005 for the crimes in Kravica in July 1995, spoke back in 2005 about what happened to Bosniaks in the warehouse in Kravica, which he managed, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.
He was released four days after his arrest, and he said that there was no political will to uncover who killed Bosniaks in Kravica.
The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina charged him with enabling the Army of Republika Srpska to house and kill Bosniaks in the hangars of the Agricultural Cooperative in Kravica, and that he also participated in the killings, and that he covered up the traces of the crime and transported the victims to an unknown location.
- I was not the direct manager of that cooperative, because I also had other facilities in Bratunac. When the Army of Republika Srpska came with the task of cleansing Srebrenica, to create a pure Serbian enclave, they didn't ask me anything - said Nikolić.
He claims that 1,000 Bosniaks were brought to Kravica on July 13, 1995, and that they were killed in the afternoon and night hours. He only learned of the crime the next morning, when he came to Kravica and saw soldiers killing those who had survived.
- The scene was horrific. Neither a Serb, nor anyone else, can experience that as normal. I cursed their mothers and asked why they were killing those people, and one of them came at me with an automatic rifle. I managed to get away and returned to Bratunac.
Nikolić informed the president of the Bratunac Municipal Assembly, Srbislav Davidović, and the mayor of Bratunac, Ljubiša Simić, about what he had seen. The municipal officials told him, Nikolić claims, that it was over, that nothing could be done, and that the dead should be buried and the facility cleaned.
- The municipal utility company for remediation cleaned the facilities in Kravica, and the people were buried in Glogova. I did not determine the location; it was predetermined. The Army of Republika Srpska later, during the night, moved that grave to another location. If anyone covered it up, it was the Bratunac Brigade, headed by Vidoje Blagojević - said Nikolić.
Blagojević was arrested in 2001 and sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2005, with his sentence reduced to 15 years in 2007, and he was released from prison in December 2012.
Blagojević, as the commander of the First Bratunac Light Infantry Brigade of the Army of Republika Srpska, was charged with crimes during Operation Krivaja 95, when, according to the indictment, at least 7,000 Bosniak boys and men were killed.
Blagojević was sentenced to 15 years for aiding and abetting murders, and for failing to prevent subordinates who participated in securing the men at the "Vuk Karadžić" school in Bratunac, but not for genocide.
Nikolić testified about the events in Kravica in 2014 in The Hague at the trial of Goran Sarić.
