Time running out for RMU Zenica management: Miners to gather in front of Elektroprivrede building tomorrow

The Union of the Zenica Brown Coal Mine (RMU) and the mine management have not reached an agreement regarding the miners' demands, and a general strike was launched on Friday, halting production in all three pits, reports the Patria news agency.

Production has stopped in all three Zenica pits, and the management was given 48 hours to meet the miners' demands. Patria has confirmed that the miners have not yet received their vacation pay, meaning that, as announced, the strike will continue tomorrow in front of the Elektroprivrede building in Sarajevo.

- We have three demands: continuous payment of wages and meal allowances, payment of vacation pay, and investment in the mine according to decisions made long ago, whose implementation has been awaited for a year - said Mehmed Oruč, president of the RMU Zenica union.

On Monday, all miners will gather in front of their respective pits, and if the demands are not met, they will head to the Elektroprivrede building in Sarajevo. This is the first time since the war that miners have been so united and are trying to persist in their goals.
