Warning: Scammers in Bijeljina taking money from Bosniaks

Over the past few months, the Medžlis of the Islamic Community in Bijeljina has been informed by congregation members and citizens of Bijeljina about occasionally organized actions by as yet unidentified individuals who, on behalf of the Medžlis of the Islamic Community in Bijeljina or the head imam Samir ef. Camić, seek financial assistance for the construction of mosques or for sick and socially disadvantaged citizens.

This is a lie and an abuse of the mercy of our congregation members and the goodwill of other citizens, reports the Patria news agency.

We announce that these are scammers who have no authorization to do such things on behalf of the MIZ Bijeljina, the head imam, or any of our imams and employees. In accordance with the rules of operation in MIZ Bijeljina, any monetary contributions are made at collections in mosques or at the MIZ Bijeljina office. Everything else is abuse and fraud, which, unfortunately, is becoming increasingly common.

We call on citizens to immediately notify the police at number 122 in such cases, or call the Medžlis office at phone numbers 055 226 250, 055 250 251. Also, avoid any conversation and persuasion with the scammers and try to remember the appearance of these people in order to facilitate the work of investigators who are already engaged, it was announced from the Medžlis of the Islamic Community in Bijeljina.
