Warning to citizens: Do not buy medicines online, they are dangerous to health

The Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices issued a warning to citizens and the public not to buy medicines and medical devices online, writes the Patria News Agency.

Recently, a large number of advertisements have been noticed on various portals and websites of unknown origin that direct to the purchase of medicines and medical devices, and as such, primarily due to the content of the advertisements and much lower prices, they can be a reason for purchasing this type of product.

- This way of procuring medicines and medical devices is extremely dangerous and poses a great threat to the public health of our citizens, because these are unverified, uncontrolled preparations of unknown origin, method of production, procurement; simply put, these are products for which our Agency has not issued a marketing authorization in BiH and as such, it does not guarantee in any case their quality, efficacy, and safety, as well as correctness when it comes to medical devices - said the Agency.

Purchasing these products online is high-risk, can lead to serious disorders and damage to the health and safety of our citizens, but also, when it comes to medical devices, to incorrect results and conclusions during measurements and various diagnostic procedures, if a faulty device or any other medical device purchased online is used.

- For this reason, we ask all our citizens and once again appeal to the public not to buy medicines and medical devices online, to strictly follow and listen to the instructions of their doctor or pharmacist, and to obtain and purchase medicines and medical devices exclusively through legal retail chains - pharmacies - the Agency added.
