Ahead of the session of the KS Assembly, the initiative of the Police Officers' Union has been accepted

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Government of Sarajevo Canton, at the proposal of Prime Minister Adem Zolj, accepted today the initiative of the Police Officers' Union of KS regarding the regulation of pension issues for police members, as well as the right to exercise their special length of service.

The provisions of these government amendments, among other things, in the Law on Police Officers of KS, define that they have the right to a pension provided they have had at least 15 years of continuous service without interruption, and that at the time of acquiring the right to a pension they performed the job of a police officer.

The coefficient for exercising the right to a pension will be determined based on the five-year salaries achieved in the capacity of a police officer, which are most favorable for him. This also applies to a police officer who, due to injuries sustained at work, caused by the direct execution of his job and task, is declared a first-category invalid.

Special length of service from the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance in single duration is included in the insurance period for a police officer only with the written consent of the person to whom it refers.

The government amendments become an integral part of the Proposal of the Law on Police Officers of Sarajevo Canton, which representatives will discuss at tomorrow's session of the KS Assembly.

We remind you, last week the Union announced protests on September 6 when the Law on Police Officers is considered at the session of the KS Assembly. A reaction was also sent by the Independent Board for the Selection and Revision of the Police Commissioner, stating that the Law as proposed favors "the retention of high-ranking police officers in their positions, including those who would have acquired the right to retire under the existing Law on Police Officers, and these amendments would allow them to remain in the Police Administration for an additional period of 4 years, even though they should have already been retired."
