(Patria) - United Nations peacekeepers in Lebanon on Friday sharply criticized Israel for violating UN Security Council Resolution 1701 after the Israeli army dropped shells near peacekeepers and Lebanese soldiers, Al Arabiya reported.
In a statement, UNIFIL stated that the Israeli army dropped shells on Thursday near
peacekeepers who were working with Lebanese soldiers in southern Lebanon.
"The workers were trying to clear the rubble of houses destroyed by the war," UNIFIL stated.
Israel dropped shells at two different locations. UNIFIL stated that it had previously informed the Israeli army of the activity and immediately requested that the shelling stop. No one was injured.
