NEW YORK, (Patria) - The UN General Assembly overwhelmingly adopted a resolution granting the Palestinian people the right to self-determination.
The Ambassador of Palestine to the UN, Riyad Mansour, stated that 176 UN member states supported the resolution.
Seven countries, including the US and Israel, voted against the resolution, while four countries abstained.
- The world rejects the new US stance on Jerusalem, which increases the country's isolation as it has decided to side with the occupying state, with Israel, thus violating relevant Security Council resolutions – Mansour commented on the US decision to veto a resolution on Jerusalem the previous day.
We remind you that after US President Donald Trump declared Jerusalem the capital of Israel, a resolution was proposed in the UN Security Council condemning such a move, but the US vetoed the resolution.
The General Assembly will decide on that resolution on Thursday, and there is a high chance it will pass.
Before the vote on the resolution, scheduled for Thursday, the General Assembly will consider a resolution tonight determining the Palestinians' right to sovereignty over their natural resources in the occupied territories, including occupied Jerusalem.
