(Patria) - The UN General Assembly adopted, by a large majority, a resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.

The resolution, proposed by Jordan on behalf of a group of Arab countries, also condemns all acts of violence against Palestinian and Israeli civilians, including all terrorist and indiscriminate attacks.

It calls for unimpeded aid and protection of civilians. 120 voted in favor, 14 against, and 45 abstained. BiH supported this resolution.

Among the countries that voted against were Croatia, the USA, Israel, Austria, the Czech Republic, Fiji, Hungary, Guatemala, and six other countries. Among the abstentions were Albania, Serbia, Iceland, Denmark, Ukraine, the United Kingdom...

Decisions of the General Assembly are not legally binding, but they carry moral weight due to the universality of membership.
