(Patria) - The United Nations Human Rights Office announced that the Israeli army "continues to kill civilians" in areas around the lines where forces have redeployed in Gaza.
According to the UN, at least 15 Palestinians were killed near Israeli positions within the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army still controls about 53 percent of Gaza's territory after withdrawing to the initial lines agreed upon within the framework of the ceasefire.
Yesterday, the Israeli army (IDF) announced that it opened fire on "several suspects" after health authorities in Gaza reported at least six Palestinians killed in two separate incidents.
The IDF stated that they fired when "suspects crossed the withdrawal line and approached the forces" in northern Gaza.
- It is essential that the ceasefire is maintained and leads to the restoration and full implementation of the Palestinians' right to self-determination. It is equally important that all reconstruction efforts, including the establishment of public order and civilian life, are in accordance with international law and the protection of Palestinian human rights - said the head of the UN Human Rights Office, Ajith Sunghay.
