Street actions: Transparency reminds citizens to demand institutional transparency

Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) is organizing a series of activities to mark September 28, International Day for Universal Access to Information. TI BiH uses this opportunity every year to remind citizens that they have the right to demand accountability and transparency from public institutions at all levels, and that these rights are guaranteed by laws on freedom of access to information, reports the Patria News Agency.

On this occasion, TI BiH will organize street actions in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar, to inform citizens about their rights and the ways they can request and obtain information held by public institutions. During these actions, citizens will also be able to directly draft requests for access to information that interests them.

The street actions will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in Sarajevo (Ferhadija, in front of the Cathedral), Banja Luka (Krajina Square) and Mostar (Španski trg).

TI BiH is also participating in the organization of the Conference on Transparency in Public Administration in BiH, which is also held on the occasion of the International Day for Universal Access to Information. The conference is organized by members of the inter-institutional working group for communication and knowledge management (representatives of the Public Administration Reform Coordinator's Office, Directorate for European Integration, BiH Agency for Statistics, and BiH Agency for Higher Education Development and Quality Assurance), as well as the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Transparency International BiH.

This Conference is also being held on Monday, 28.09.2015, starting at 10:00 AM in the building of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
