(Patria) - Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian medium-range Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system in a precision strike, the 15th Reconnaissance Artillery Brigade "Black Forest" announced.
As they stated, reconnaissance personnel from that brigade detected the position of the Russian system and directed fire at the target, with the entire operation recorded and released in a video. It was not disclosed when and where exactly the attack occurred.
The Buk-M3 is considered a key component of Russian air defense, and its value is estimated at around $45 million.
The Buk-M3 is the most modern version of the Soviet Buk missile system, developed to destroy enemy aircraft, cruise missiles, and drones at medium ranges.
It entered operational service in 2016 and is distinguished by improved accuracy, greater range (up to 70 kilometers), and the ability to engage multiple targets simultaneously.
The destruction of this system represents a significant blow to Russian defenses on the battlefield, given that the Buk-M3 is designed to protect key positions and logistical routes from aerial threats.
