Ukraine wants security guarantees for Odesa

(Patria) - Ukraine wants a peace document currently being worked on, which would include security guarantees for its Black Sea port city of Odesa, a source close to the negotiations in Abu Dhabi told TASS.

"This aspect is of key importance for Kyiv," the source said.

"Ukraine would need guarantees within the (peace) package that Russian troops will not enter Odesa, or that there should be a mechanism for something like that," he explained.

On January 23 and 24, Abu Dhabi hosted the first round of trilateral security consultations between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine.
The Russian negotiating group was led by Igor Kostyukov, Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff, TASS reported.

The second round of negotiations in Abu Dhabi was held in the capital of the United Arab Emirates on February 4 and 5.
